If you want your wedding day to be unsurpassed in elegance, you can’t go wrong with an authentic French château. However, there are so many of these gorgeous venues that finding the perfect fit for your needs can be difficult. As a Geneva wedding planner, many of my clients look to get married in the south of France. As a result, I’ve become familiar with these venues and know which ones stand out! So, whether you’re living in France or dreaming of a destination wedding, look no further than these four French château wedding venues.
French Château Wedding Venues in Provence
This dreamy destination’s sun-soaked rolling fields are the setting for most of our favorite venues. If you can’t picture tying the knot anywhere else, these three châteaus won’t disappoint! The choice will ultimately come down to the season and the number of guests you plan to invite.
Château Estoublon
This intimate setting suits upscale affairs and relaxed country weddings alike. Nestled amid nearly 500 acres of vineyards and woodland, you and your spouse can share an unforgettable experience with your loved ones. Meanwhile, the château’s on-site team will be ready to make your day beautiful and take care of your every need.
One of our favorite ceremony locations at this venue is the grand entry staircase! Perfect for micro weddings or elopements, it looks stunning when decorated with classic white flowers. For your reception, you may choose between dining inside the château or al fresco beneath the garden lights.
Château de Tourreau
This château sits on 20 acres in the heart of Provence—home of the famous French lavender fields! At this venue, options abound for customizing your special day. You can say “I do” in the manicured gardens, tucked away in the surrounding fields, or beside the infinity pool.
In addition, for those seeking a more traditional setting, this venue features a chapel dating from 1614! The chapel will hold up to 70 people, while an outdoor reception at this venue has a maximum capacity of 150 people. Note that outdoor receptions only are permitted here, so it isn’t the best choice for late autumn or winter affairs.
Château de Sannes
With impeccably kept grounds, sculpted hedges, and a sparkling infinity pool, Château de Sannes is any bride’s dream. Vineyards and lavender fields surround this venue, which also operates as a winery!
The château is in partnership with catering company Roland Paix, one of the most well-regarded vendors of its kind in Provence. And they’ll do much more than make mouthwatering food for your celebration—they’ll also assist you throughout your wedding preparations! You and your guests will love dining and sipping on some of the best food and wine in the region.
A Château in Bourgogne
This beautiful, historically significant region of east-central France is right in our backyard! It’s perfect for a couple from Switzerland who doesn’t want to make the journey to Provence.
Château de Varennes
Not only is this château one of the best French château wedding venues, but it is also among the top ten wedding venues in the world! A chapel on-site can seat up to 80 guests for a traditional ceremony. Alternatively, you can opt to host your ceremony outdoors, in the shade of an avenue of centuries-old trees.
The Orangery is the château’s reception venue for celebrations large and small. It can accommodate up to 200 guests for a seated dinner, but couples may also opt to erect dividers to give the space a more intimate feel. In addition, the terrace of The Orangery is perfect for an outdoor cocktail reception or al fresco dinner. This venue is ideal for couples who want an outdoor wedding to take advantage of the region’s gorgeous spring and summer weather!
