Creating a wedding guest list can be one of the most daunting parts of the planning process. But it doesn’t have to be! As a wedding planner, I know the tips and tricks couples should remember when deciding who to invite to their special day. Keep reading to discover them and save time and stress creating your wedding guest list!

What to Consider When Creating Your Wedding Guest List

Your Budget

Your budget should be your number-one concern when creating your guest list. The more guests you invite, the more money you will spend. If you and your partner are on a tight budget, consider hosting an intimate wedding with only your closest friends and family members present. These weddings are trending right now because they keep the emphasis on the two of you!

A good rule of thumb is to expect to spend around $100 per head. Determine what percentage of your overall budget you’d like to devote to feeding your guests. Then, create your guest list accordingly.

Your Vision

Secondly, consider your vision for your wedding day. If you love extravagant floral displays, consider lowering your guest count so you can devote more of your budget to flowers. Or, if you envision serving gourmet food and drinks, you may consider doing the same since you can expect to spend more per head.

Your VIPs

Make one list of everyone important to you. Then, you can slim down the list by considering, “Would I spend x on this person?” We know this can be challenging if your parents have also created lists. Depending on your budget, you may need to discuss this with them. They may not mind contributing to the catering bill if they want more guests to attend!

In addition, scrap your B list (or don’t make one if you haven’t started already!). If the people on your B list didn’t make it onto your A list, they don’t need to be at your wedding.

Your Instincts

Ultimately, your wedding day is about you, your partner, and the love you share. Only add a name to your guest list if your gut tells you they should be there! You can trust your instincts to guide you to create a day surrounded by those who care for you most.

With these tips, you can create a wedding guest list that honors your budget and priorities. After you complete your list, your next step is hiring a planner! Our team would be honored to turn your wedding vision into a beautifully designed event. Get in touch with us today to learn more!
